Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a small, quiet town. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't heard of it often mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was not long. Brugel grew on Courtice close to Oshawa within Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but an increase in her height meant that she literally outgrew her dance partners. In an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at high school that led her to the path she required. The teacher encouraged her to take part in an audition in a school production. The audition was successful and she was chosen in the role of Anne of Green Gables. She was given the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program which she completed at the age of 20 with a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. For the last twenty years, her work has been seen on the small and large screen. Her work gained most fame when she was offered the part as Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast during the season 1 of the series, and only seen occasionally.
